Team Fusion Simulations

About Team Fusion Simulations

Team Fusion Simulations (TFS) is the international volunteer development group behind the continued life of IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. The group began in 2012 as a community of modders who set out to repair and improve the original 2011 title after its developer, 1C:Maddox Games, stepped away from active support. In December 2016, 1C Game Studios and the renamed Team Fusion Simulations agreed to cooperate on future releases, granting TFS official access to the game's source code.

Cliffs of Dover is a Second World War combat flight simulator centred on the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940. It is renowned for its detailed damage modelling — airframe, engine, cooling systems and control runs are simulated individually — and for its fully 3D, mouse-operable cockpits. The TFS-developed Blitz edition (December 2017) modernised and stabilised the original release, and the Desert Wings – Tobruk add-on (August 2020) extended the simulator to the Western Desert campaign over North Africa from 1940 to 1942, adding more than forty new flyable types and a 385 × 385 km North African map. Work continues today on the next add-on, Fortresses and Focke-Wulfs – Dieppe, as well as on a VR implementation, a TrueSky-based visual overhaul, and regular maintenance and improvement patches (47 as of May 2026) to the live game.

IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs Of Dover and Desert Wings – Tobruk: Update 5.048

posted by Artist

Greetings Pilots, Update 5.048 is available on Steam now:

  • Feature: Multiplayer spawn's fligh path adjusted for scripting. [Artist]
(see Mission Builder's Manual, Spawnpoints; https://www.team-fusion-simulations.de/tfsresources/?&plink=5#item5)
  • Feature: Ingame map waypoints for the player now show altitude and speed (IAS) annotations and more info on mouseover [Artist]
  • Feature: Mission builders can now define formations at waypoints (instead only for the whole flight path as before) [Artist]
Refer to the Mission Builder's Manual for details and explanations (https://www.team-fusion-simulations.de/tfsresources/?&plink=5#item5) [Artist]
  • Feature: In the Full Mission Builder waypoint altitude can now be set in meter or feet, speed can be set in km/h, mph, or knots. [Artist]
  • Feature: In the Full Mission Builder True Airspeed (TAS) and Indicated Airspeed (IAS) is now displayed below the waypoint's speed setting (which is Ground Speed) [Artist]
  • Feature: In the Full Mission Builder the file dialogs (open, save as, ...) now remember their size/division across sessions. [Artist]
  • Feature: In the Full Mission Builder now all all target/object names are correctly displayed for waypoint target actions [Artist]
  • Feature: In the Full Mission Builder inserted waypoints between two others now initially have interpolated speed/altitude [Artist]
  • Feature: In the Full Mission Builder "Circle Back To" has replaced the waypoint option "Loiter" (Legacy Loiter is still supported and automatically converted). [Artist]
Refer to the Mission Builder's Manual for details and explanations (https://www.team-fusion-simulations.de/tfsresources/?&plink=5#item5) [Artist]
  • Fix: In the Full Mission Builder the option Radio Silence is now only applied to the selected waypoint (not all waypoints in the path, as before). [Artist]
  • Fix/Feature: When you have checked “Spawn parked”, the aircraft will taxi to the runway, will always take off in Line Abreast and will assume the desired formation when having assumed enough speed and height (the AI is simply not ‘intelligent’ enough to taxi into any other formation without creating a unresolvable traffic jam). [Artist]
  • Fix: The AI pilots had a bug that made them use the waypoint’s Ground Speed value as Indicated Airspeed after the first waypoint (e.g. with 300 km/h GS for both 1st and 2nd waypoint at 9000m, the AI would spawn correctly with 185 km/h IAS but would then wrongly accelerate towards 300 km/h IAS, which is 474 km/H GS). This was fixed in v5.048. Earlier missions a adapted automatically on load, preserving their original behaviour. [Artist]
  • Fix: The height configured in the FMB for waypoints is now "above sea level". Before, it was taken as as 'above ground' in game. This led to funny behaviour (high alt flights following land contours) and confusion (height in game was not what you configured, IAS was wrong, etc.). Backward compatibility with earlier missions is maintained. [Artist]

Please note that when Single Missions are updated by TFS it is not automatic that you will see the updated missions in your game immediately. This is because TFS will never delete any files that are in your "\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder! To get the updated Single Missions you must delete the existing missions in "\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\missions\Single" while the game is not running. Next time you start the game the updated Single Missions will be copied from the game's installation folder (...\Steam\steamapps\...) into "\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\missions\Single" from where you then can play them.
